Role overview
Argenta is seeking a dependable manufacturing operator to join its day shift team in South Auckland. This is a permanent, full-time position on a Monday to Friday schedule from 6:00am to 2:30pm, with on-site parking available. The business operates in animal health, developing and manufacturing pharmaceutical products for farm and companion animals. With sites across New Zealand, the United States, Scotland, Spain, and Germany, and a global team of more than 900 people, Argenta offers a setting where learning and progression are actively supported.
What the job involves
The role is focused on supporting day-to-day manufacturing activity in a fast-paced production environment. The successful person should be quick to learn, work with accuracy, and help maintain quality and operational performance. Previous exposure to pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or similar manufacturing work is preferred, especially where GMP standards and SOPs are part of the routine.
Key duties
- Set up, run, clean, and carry out basic calibration checks on manufacturing equipment.
- Work strictly to manufacturing instructions and ensure tasks meet quality and compliance expectations.
- Complete routine in-process quality inspections, document outcomes, and escalate any issues or deviations quickly.
- Keep equipment clean, calibrated, and suitable for use, and inform the team leader about faults or non-compliance.
- Support basic troubleshooting of equipment and contribute to ongoing improvements in processes and operations.
- Assist with general production and operational work to keep the workflow efficient and help the team meet output targets.
Experience and capabilities
Applicants should have at least 2 years of manufacturing experience in pharmaceutical, animal health, food, or a related sector. Experience in a GMP-controlled environment is highly desirable, along with a strong focus on quality and adherence to standard operating procedures. A solid understanding of health and safety, good communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and a practical problem-solving approach are important for success in this role.
Physical and employment conditions
This role may involve handling items of up to 25 kg, so a good level of physical fitness is useful. A pre-employment medical assessment is required as a condition of employment. The position is open only to candidates who already have the legal right to work in New Zealand on an ongoing basis, such as citizens or permanent residents.
