Role overview
This position is for an experienced electrical project professional who will manage facility-related electrical projects at the Oragadam plant from start to finish. The role covers planning, technical review, vendor management, statutory coordination, site execution, reporting, and final handover, with a strong focus on quality, safety, cost control, and timelines.
Project planning and execution
- Plan and drive electrical project activities in coordination with consultants and contractors so that delivery stays within schedule.
- Develop project proposals from the initial concept stage through management presentation.
- Review and interpret SLDs, panel GA drawings, cable schedules, and other project-related technical documents.
Documentation and progress tracking
- Keep the BOQ tracker and drawing revision log updated.
- Prepare DPRs, DLRs linked to project timelines, and regular daily and weekly progress updates.
- Maintain the SFM board at the work site.
- Prepare bills with all required supporting documents for submission.
Drawing review and technical coordination
- Examine electrical 2D drawings, shop drawings, and related technical documents in detail.
- Work with architects to incorporate corrections and drawing revisions.
- Ensure field execution follows approved shop drawings.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of as-built drawings after completion.
Vendor and site coordination
- Build project time schedules and monitor vendor compliance with planned milestones.
- Track long-lead material requirements and follow up on timely mobilization.
- Prepare snag lists and ensure closure before the project is signed off.
- Coordinate handover documents in line with the DICV standard checklist.
- Align with the shop floor in-charge in advance for work-front readiness and area clearance.
Statutory and compliance responsibilities
- Support the statutory approval process with TNEB and CEIG authorities.
- Ensure all submissions and records meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
Cross-functional, safety, and quality duties
- Coordinate with the civil team to plan work in the right sequence.
- Maintain regular communication with end users and other internal stakeholders.
- Share weekly and monthly project status updates with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure execution meets DICV safety and quality standards.
- Prepare safety work method statements and initiate safety work permits.
Mandatory requirements
This is a non-negotiable role requirement: candidates must hold a valid Electrical C License. Applicants without this license will not be shortlisted. The role also requires practical experience in reading and reviewing electrical 2D diagrams.
Additional skills and capabilities
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with AutoCAD, MS Office, presentations, and MS Project. Strong communication, BOQ vetting, drawing review, and statutory approval coordination experience are important. The person should also be a team player, ready to work in shifts, self-driven, and able to complete work on time while maintaining quality.
Education and suitability
Applicants should hold a B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) or Electrical Engineering. The role suits professionals with hands-on experience in facility electrical projects and coordination with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
