Role overview
Novogene Europe is hiring a Laboratory Technician for a one-year fixed-term assignment based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The position runs from 1 September 2026 through 31 August 2027, and applications are being accepted immediately. CV screening is scheduled to begin on 1 July 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, register, and process samples, complete experiments, and enter result data accurately within the required turnaround times.
- Carry out a range of test workflows while strictly following the relevant standard operating procedures.
- Follow written laboratory procedures in every part of the work, ensuring sample details are captured correctly, materials are handled appropriately, and all required records and quality documents are kept up to date.
- Manage sample intake and tracking in the laboratory through the LIMS platform, including accessioning and inventory control.
- Handle routine lab upkeep such as placing and receiving supply orders, monitoring consumable stock, and maintaining equipment usage logs.
- Operate an automated high-throughput liquid handling system, oversee one production line, and resolve issues when they arise.
- Work in line with all site quality systems and health and safety rules, including ISO 17025:2017, ISO 15189:2023, ISO14001, GCLP, and the Human Tissue Act (2004).
- Take on additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have an academic background in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology, or a similar discipline. The role calls for a collaborative mindset, the ability to meet demanding deadlines, a very high level of accuracy, and strong communication skills. Confidence with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Prior exposure to Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an advantage, as is experience with PCR, qPCR, and next-generation sequencing workflows.
