Role overview
APAIC 2025 is hiring a Junior Analyst for a part-time remote role focused on research, data handling, and reporting work that supports the conference’s programs and stakeholders. The position is centered on turning information into clear, useful inputs for internal decision-making and partner communication.
Core work
In this role, you will collect and structure information on AI initiatives and conference participants, carry out light market and policy research, and distill findings into concise summaries and practical insights. You will also contribute to briefing materials, slide decks, and dashboards that help teams and partners stay informed.
Additional responsibilities include working with cross-functional teams, keeping databases and documentation organized, and supporting impact tracking as well as post-conference review activities.
What the role involves
- Gathering and organizing data relevant to AI initiatives and stakeholder groups.
- Performing basic quantitative and qualitative research to support conference-related work.
- Creating short reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other decision-support materials.
- Maintaining records, databases, and supporting documentation in an orderly manner.
- Assisting with impact assessment and evaluation work after the conference.
- Coordinating with internal teams and external partners in a remote working setup.
Qualifications and profile
This opportunity is a strong fit for people interested in artificial intelligence, technology governance, and sustainable development in Africa. A background in economics, data science, public policy, computer science, social sciences, or a similar field is preferred, and students or recent graduates are welcome to apply.
Applicants should bring solid research and analytical foundations, comfort with spreadsheets, presentation tools, and online collaboration platforms, and the ability to learn new analytics or AI-focused tools quickly. Strong writing, speaking, organization, and time management skills are important, along with accuracy, reliability, and the ability to handle several tasks in a remote environment.
Experience or familiarity with AI concepts or policy work is an advantage. The role also calls for collaborative behavior, professional integrity, and the flexibility to work effectively in multicultural, cross-border teams and a fast-moving conference setting.
