Freight Forwarding Junior Controller-1

Role overview

This position focuses on supporting freight forwarding and warehouse coordination activities in Ndola. The role involves daily planning, documentation control, reporting, customer coordination, stock verification, and transit monitoring to help ensure smooth cargo movement and timely turnaround.

Key duties

• Organize the day’s loading and offloading plan and share the task list with the warehouse team for action.
• Bring together warehouse data, check it for accuracy, and enter it into the system for reporting.
• Prepare and validate stock and tracking reports for clients and distribute them every day according to client needs.
• Make sure all pre-alerts and transport documents are sent to the correct receiving parties and are fully filed in Alfresco.
• Handle client and vendor questions, providing timely, professional responses and solutions.
• Track cargo while it is in transit and ensure all KPIs are achieved until the shipment is offloaded at the destination.
• Work with the capacity team each day to align project capacity needs and support truck turnaround time and KPI management.
• Carry out physical stock counts of cargo and reconcile the results with the Stocks Controller and the assigned Inspection Company before reporting to the client.
• Support POD management and any other related duties assigned within the scope of the role.

Minimum qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate with at least a merit in both Mathematics and English.
• Diploma in Transport and Logistics.
• Computer literacy and confidence using common computer applications.
• Active paid membership with the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (ZCILT).
• At least 1 year of experience in warehousing and logistics is an advantage.
