Job Summary
Visit Henry County, GA is seeking a part-time Expert Explorer to support its mobile visitors center and community outreach efforts. This role involves representing the county’s tourism partners, engaging with visitors at events and public gatherings, and sharing information that encourages longer visits and more exploration of Henry County.

Visit Henry County, GA serves as the official destination marketing organization for tourism promotion across Stockbridge, Locust Grove, Hampton, and unincorporated McDonough. The team operates a mobile visitor center built from a Ram ProMaster cargo van to welcome guests and provide area details in a friendly, informative setting.
What the Role Involves
This position suits someone who enjoys being active in the community, speaking with many people throughout the day, and helping visitors discover local attractions. The work requires comfort driving a large cargo van on local roads and interstates, setting up displays, managing visitor interactions, and staying current on tourism happenings across the county.
Responsibilities
- Set up at events, hand out swag, and interact with crowds while serving as a representative of Henry County and its tourism partners.
- Welcome visitors, guide foot traffic, respond to tourism questions, and share promotional materials.
- Adhere to safety and labor compliance standards, including required break schedules.
- Record daily counts for in-person conversations, giveaways, and the types of information requested, such as dining or shopping.
- Research answers when information is not immediately available.
- Keep the manager informed about emerging visitor concerns or patterns seen in the community.
- Maintain clear communication with the Visit Henry team and promptly report issues at any event or site.
Requirements
- Comfort interacting with the public and representing the brand in community settings.
- Ability to speak to groups in casual outdoor environments such as festivals, parks, concerts, fairs, and car shows.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to uphold a strong brand presence.
- Self-driven and comfortable handling setup and breakdown of tents, displays, and/or the visitor van independently.
- Willingness to learn Henry County’s history, attractions, and tourism landscape as it evolves.
- Comfort working outdoors and helping with physical event setup.
- Flexibility to adapt to each activation’s needs.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.
- Ability to manage volunteers with different personalities and experience levels.
- Availability for flexible hours, including weekends and occasional evenings.
- Reliable transportation to reach events and on-site appearances.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clean motor vehicle report and background check are required.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time role capped at 20 hours per week and cannot exceed 40 hours per pay period. Availability is required on evenings and weekends.
Compensation
The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.
Additional Information
The position is classified as non-exempt and reports to the Partner Relations & Visitors Manager at Visit Henry County, GA. Most travel, about 95%, will be within the county, though occasional travel outside the county may be required.
