Position overview
The Events Manager will oversee the planning, logistics, and on-the-ground execution of volunteer meal-packing events for Rise Against Hunger. This role is responsible for leading small and medium in-person events with roughly 50 to 200 participants, coordinating warehouse operations, managing supplies and transport, and resolving issues quickly so each event runs efficiently and hosts have a positive experience. The position also supports daily operations and keeps the event calendar fully staffed with the needed resources.
About the team
The Donor Engagement team is responsible for bringing in groups that want to host meaningful meal-packing experiences for their members or employees. The team includes volunteer coordinators as well as fundraising and donor relationship professionals, all working toward the shared goal of ending hunger through community partnerships. The program is fast-moving and mission-driven, serving businesses, faith-based organizations, and educational institutions.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will build partnerships, coordinate events, and support warehouse and distribution operations.
- Promote the organization’s mission, connect with potential host groups, and help secure financial support for meal-packing events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with congregations, companies, civic groups, schools, and community organizations.
- Identify speaking opportunities, pursue new partnership prospects, follow up on referrals, and assist with recruiting a local engagement board.
- Lead volunteer groups and train staff on packaging procedures, adjusting assignments as needed for 4 to 12 events each month.
- Help recruit and train part-time team members.
- Move raw materials and equipment to mobile event locations each week and assist with setup using a pallet jack and box truck.
- Receive incoming shipments of ingredients, supplies, and equipment, and arrange shipment of finished products.
- Maintain accurate records and process documentation such as inventory logs, invoices, bills of lading, and receipts.
- Track meal production against forecasts, including inventory levels, meals shipped, and revenue expectations.
- Follow safe handling practices when moving raw materials, equipment, and packaged meals, including the use of forklifts and pallet jacks.

The right candidate is self-driven, organized, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment.
- A strong commitment to the mission of ending global hunger and supporting community impact work.
- Comfort working with diverse communities, including faith-based groups, and maintaining a polished professional presence in corporate and academic settings.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently or with a team, and manage several priorities at once.
- Confidence using cloud-based tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and video conferencing platforms.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation ability, including using social media to encourage event participation.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
- Physical readiness for warehouse and event work, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lb bags.
- Interest in learning to drive a box truck and operate a forklift, along with the ability to pass a drug screen, DOT physical, and driving record review.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Associate degree or at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Working knowledge of Google/Microsoft Office tools and other cloud-based software.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to transport materials in a box truck.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks, including frequent lifting of up to 50 lb and operating pallet jacks.
- Ability to meet DOT rules and keep DOT certification, including compliance with the organization’s stated drug-use restrictions.
- Availability for weekends, some evenings, and early mornings.
- Comfort working across different locations and environments.
- Nonprofit experience is preferred but not mandatory.
