Role overview
This position is based in Aqua Consultants’ office in Leeds and sits within the Estimating & Cost Intelligence team. The successful candidate will help deliver major frameworks and projects, working closely with clients and contractors to keep work moving efficiently and communication clear.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare estimates at different levels of detail depending on the project phase, including top-level modelling and detailed bottom-up estimates using CESMM or similar methods.
- Create cost estimates for option appraisal, including CAPEX, OPEX and NPV comparisons.
- Carry out benchmarking and help build early-stage cost envelopes for projects.
- Review project estimates and contractor submissions as part of cost assurance work.
- Gather and standardise historical project cost data for analysis.
- Support the creation of cost models that can be used in future estimating work.
- Take part in meetings and site visits when required.
- Work confidently in client-facing discussions and meetings.
- Manage work across several projects at the same time.
- Use a range of estimating systems effectively.
Authority and working approach
The role is expected to be proactive and self-directed in day-to-day delivery. However, final issue of costings and reports must still be checked and approved by the line manager or direct reporting manager before release.
Stakeholder engagement
Regular contact with clients and contractors is an essential part of the role to ensure work is completed and communicated on time. The position may also involve dealing with third-party stakeholders, so a professional approach is expected at all times. Frequent interaction with internal colleagues is also required, with an emphasis on open and effective communication.
Qualifications
A degree in Construction or Engineering is required.
