About the Role

Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) serve patients with complex medical needs through specialized care. Position Overview

The Human Resources Director partners with hospital and district leaders to manage people-related operations across one or more facilities in a market. This role provides guidance on employee relations, policies and procedures, employment law, retention, compensation, HRIS and management reporting, onboarding, and benefits. The director works with the Senior/District Director of Human Resources to communicate, coordinate, implement, and monitor HR programs and policy updates. The role also helps maintain a positive employee relations culture while balancing the needs of employees and the organization. As part of the wider HR team, the director contributes to division and corporate HR initiatives and helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen the employee experience through stay and exit interviews, identify patterns, and recommend actions to hospital leadership, the DDHR, and/or the Division Vice President.
  • Partner with HR Payroll Admin, Benefits, HR Help, Compensation, and other centers of excellence to investigate and resolve employee issues related to pay and compensation.
  • Track and implement changes tied to state, federal, or local laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance with new programs, policies, or procedures.
  • Respond promptly to leave-of-absence requests and information requests from third-party administrators and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage reasonable accommodation requests, document the interactive process thoroughly, and escalate risks to the DDHR and/or Legal as needed.
  • Promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts at the hospital level, including participation in employee resource groups.
  • Work with the DDHR and Compensation teams to assess market factors and recommend pay packages, shift differentials, and sign-on bonuses.
  • As appropriate, take part in screening and hiring for key roles to help ensure candidates meet hospital hiring standards.
  • Serve as the liaison between ScionHealth Corporate and the hospital on all HR matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
  • Professional HR certification such as HRCI or SHRM is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience at the exempt level, with strong command of HR policies and practices.
