Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing project budgets, tracking costs, preparing forecasts, and producing financial reports for large-scale construction assignments. The role is designed to improve cost visibility, maintain financial discipline, and support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. You will coordinate closely with Planning, Commercial, Procurement, Finance, and site teams to protect profitability and reduce commercial risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare project budgets and build Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
- Compare actual spend with approved budgets and flag any gaps, overruns, or risk areas.
- Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, dashboards, and KPI summaries.
- Reconcile cost data with project progress and earned value information.
- Check quantities, productivity figures, and subcontractor payment submissions.
- Examine supplier and subcontractor invoices to confirm accuracy and contractual compliance.
- Monitor commitments, actual expenditures, and the balance of remaining costs.
- Compile Cost-to-Complete (CTC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) calculations.
- Evaluate the financial effect of variations and design modifications.
- Keep cost documentation complete, traceable, and audit-ready, and assist with internal or client audits.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a similar discipline is required.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in cost control within contracting or real estate development is preferred, with UAE exposure an advantage.
- Good understanding of BOQs, construction cost frameworks, and commercial procedures is essential.
- Proven experience in budgeting, cost reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis is needed.
- Familiarity with planning coordination and progress measurement methods is expected.
Preferred Certifications
- CCP®, CAE®, EVM, PMP®, or training in ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, BuildSmart, or MS Dynamics.
