About the Role
Sublime Coffee is looking for a practical, reliable Coffee Machine Technician to support its wholesale café network across Nelson (Whakatū) and Tasman. The position also includes hands-on help in the roastery, making it a good fit for someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems and being part of a close-knit coffee business.
The company has been locally built in Nelson since 2005, batch-roasts its blends, and operates custom-made roasting equipment. It also serves more than 100 café partners across New Zealand and runs two cafés in Nelson.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds on espresso machines and grinders used by client cafés.
- Handle service bookings, site visits, call-outs, and urgent breakdown support across the Nelson-Tasman area.
- Manage spare parts ordering and keep track of machine inventory.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with café partners.
- Support the roasting team with roastery tasks and day-to-day operations.
What We’re Looking For
- A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence is required.
- Strong hands-on mechanical ability or an electrician background, with confidence in diagnosing and fixing equipment.
- Prior experience with espresso machines or coffee equipment is highly desirable.
- An electrical licence would be an advantage.
- Any previous roastery experience is a bonus, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Comfort using Google Workspace and inventory or admin systems such as DEAR.
- Interest in specialty coffee and how coffee is sourced and produced.
- A calm manner, good communication skills, and a collaborative attitude.
Working Arrangement
This is a full-time onsite role, offering around 30 to 40 hours per week in Nelson (Whakatū), New Zealand.
