Role Overview

Magna International is hiring a Cleaner to support plant cleanliness and upkeep at its Penetanguishene, Ontario site. This permanent role sits within the Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting group, which focuses on automotive technologies for vehicle access, vision systems, and advanced lighting.

Key Duties

• Carry out routine cleaning work such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
• Use a power floor scrubber and other cleaning tools to keep the plant in proper condition.
• Clean and sanitize washrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
• Remove waste, empty bins, and install new liners.
• Clean glass surfaces such as windows, partitions, and mirrors using suitable supplies.
• Restock restroom and other cleaning supplies when required.
• Keep cleaning materials and equipment secured, organized, and adequately stocked.
• Follow company directions related to punctuality and absenteeism.
• Complete assigned work in line with ISO 14001 environmental standards, internal procedures, handbook rules, and employee norms.
• Work safely and maintain required health, safety, and housekeeping standards at all times.
• Take part in the 5S program and support related improvement activities.
• Handle other related tasks as assigned.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Section 28.
• Observe all safety and non-safety rules and company requirements.
• Attend Environmental Health and Safety training sessions.
• Follow Magna Closures and Techform standards for health, safety, environment, quality, policies, and procedures.
• Report hazards, defects, incidents, or compliance concerns to a supervisor or employer.
• Respect policies that address domestic violence, workplace violence, and harassment under Bill 168.

5S Duties

• Help maintain cleanliness across the plant and property.
• Keep floor markings, including tape and paint, in good condition.
• Support labeling tasks and related upkeep.
• Maintain 5S communication boards and red tag bins.
• Join 5S kaizen events or project work when needed.
• Carry out 5S audits as required.
• Promote the 5S culture and act as a visible supporter of the program.

Compensation and Benefits

The posted pay range is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

No formal education is required, although a Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalency is preferred. One year of work-related experience is also preferred.
