What You May Work On

Each assignment can differ, but contributors may be asked to build chemistry-focused tasks that reflect genuine research or applied chemistry scenarios. The work may include:

Creating original computational chemistry problems that mirror real research workflows.
Writing Python-based problems that require tools such as NumPy, SciPy, and chemistry libraries.
Making sure the tasks are computationally demanding and not realistically solvable by hand in a short time.
Developing questions that require layered reasoning in physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, and molecular modeling.
Grounding problems in practical chemistry applications or research-style challenges.
Checking answers through Python and standard computational chemistry methods.
Writing clear problem statements and supplying verified correct solutions.

Who This Suits

This is a strong fit for chemistry professionals who also have Python experience and prefer part-time, project-based work rather than a permanent role. The expected profile includes:

A degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
Confidence using Python for numerical checking; other technical tools such as MATLAB, R, C, SQL, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, field-specific libraries, or Stata can be considered equivalent programming experience.
At least 2 years of professional experience, including applied, research, or teaching work.
Hands-on knowledge of numerical methods used in chemistry.
Understanding of computational chemistry concepts and techniques.
Strong written English at C1 level or above.

How the Process Works

The workflow is: apply, complete qualification steps, join a project, finish the assigned tasks, and receive payment.

Time Commitment

During active project periods, the expected workload is about 10 to 20 hours per week. This is only an estimate and may vary by project phase; it is not a guaranteed number of hours.

Compensation

Contributors may earn up to the equivalent of $35 per hour on this project, depending on experience and pace of work. Pay can differ from one project to another based on scope, complexity, and the expertise needed.
