Role overview
This position is focused on improving cargo revenue performance by refining cargo mix, raising yield, lifting load factor, and using the network effectively. The role supports revenue growth for designated hubs in coordination with the Cargo Commercial team, while ensuring maximum capacity utilization, proper cargo prioritization, and strong service standards aligned with company goals.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee cargo capacity planning and optimization for the assigned hub network, including daily cargo, courier, special cargo, interline cargo, prioritization, load planning, and monitoring of offloaded shipments using passenger load and pre-booked baggage analysis through the airline’s PSS and BI tools.
- Deliver on cargo revenue targets for assigned routes through capacity control, yield management, and better commodity mix planning.
- Review competitor and other airline pricing with the cargo sales team and available platforms, then coordinate with the line manager on short-, medium-, and long-term pricing changes and keep the cargo system updated accordingly.
- Make sure all forward booking requests are submitted, approved, and tracked in the cargo reservation system so that no shipment is left unbooked on any flight.
- Study cargo commodity mix and yield patterns to support pricing decisions.
- Compile and share daily, weekly, and monthly reports on trends, tonnage, and revenue.
- Monitor shipment requests raised by cargo sales, GSA, and CSA, and follow up promptly to ensure cargo space is used efficiently.
- Coordinate intra-UAE trucking needs to support approved cargo and VAL shipments for corporate customers.
- Serve as the contact point for GHAs across hubs and the network to ensure SLA compliance, identify shipment backlogs, and carry out periodic checks when needed.
- Manage VAL boxes, seals, and pallets at hubs and outstations.
- Check that pre- and post-flight messages are sent on time by the relevant GHAs to avoid regulatory penalties.
- Log system-related issues and work with internal and external IT teams until closure, while suggesting improvements where needed.
- Follow Air Arabia policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is required; a background in management is considered an advantage. The role calls for at least 5 years of experience in cargo revenue management and/or sales, including a minimum of 3 years in a similar airline role. Experience with narrow-body or low-cost airlines is a plus. Training in cargo pricing and capacity management is essential, and cargo operations exposure is beneficial.
Knowledge and skills
The ideal candidate should understand IATA and TACT regulations as well as airline cargo operations. Strong analytical ability, issue identification, solution design, and KPI delivery are important. The role also requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, fluency in English, and a strong track record of improving revenue, yield, and overall business performance. Effective persuasion, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are also needed, along with the ability to combine technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to support new initiatives. A good grasp of market trends and how to apply them for sustained revenue growth is essential.
