Assistant Accountant

Role overview

Cranecorp Australia is looking for a driven Assistant Accountant to join its finance team in Henderson, Western Australia. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and partners closely with the Senior Accountant to help deliver accurate, timely, and commercially valuable financial information across the business.

This opportunity is well suited to someone aiming to strengthen core accounting skills, work with senior stakeholders, and grow modern finance capabilities within a team focused on ongoing improvement.

What you'll be doing

• Supporting month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting the transactional finance team with accounts payable and accounts receivable matters.
• Helping improve finance processes through automation, documentation, and continuous enhancement.
• Managing the fixed asset register and assisting with depreciation and asset disposals.
• Supporting management reporting, variance analysis, and stakeholder communication.
• Contributing to statutory reporting, audits, and compliance-related tasks.
• Providing ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support operational and commercial decisions.
• Assisting with BAS, PAYG, and FBT preparation and lodgment.
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.

About you

You should have a degree in Accounting, Commerce, Information Technology, or a related field, along with progress toward CA or CPA study, or a plan to begin it. The role suits someone with 2–3 years of experience in assistant accounting or a similar finance position.

You will need to be detail-oriented, organised, comfortable with technology, and confident using Excel while being open to learning new financial systems. A proactive approach, a focus on finding better ways of working, and the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance teams are important.
