Role Overview
This opportunity is for an AI Engineer based in Sydney, Australia, with a remote-friendly working model. The role is highly hands-on and focused on building practical AI systems that solve complex enterprise problems across APAC. You will work on agentic AI, large language model applications, and production-grade machine learning pipelines, with your work delivered directly into customer environments and evaluated by real business users.
You will collaborate with Kaggle Grandmasters, ML engineers, and subject-matter experts to create solutions that move beyond prototypes and deliver measurable outcomes in production workflows.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing, developing, and deploying AI applications, ML models, and agent-based systems on the H2O AI platform.
- Handling the full machine learning lifecycle, including data prep, feature creation, model training, assessment, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Building production-ready features that combine predictive ML, generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, and LLM-based components.
- Creating backend services and APIs that connect models, data sources, and end-user applications.
- Supporting implementation of AI solutions within customer environments for both predictive and GenAI use cases.
- Contributing to technical workshops, product demos, and enablement sessions.
- Working with senior engineers and cross-functional partners to develop reusable components and reference designs.
- Explaining technical work clearly to both technical audiences and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of experience in AI, machine learning, data science, or software engineering.
- Solid knowledge of predictive machine learning, including feature engineering, training, evaluation, and interpretation.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying ML or AI solutions in production or near-production environments.
- Exposure to generative AI concepts such as LLMs, SLMs, RAG, prompt design, or agent-based systems.
- Strong Python skills along with sound software engineering practices such as testing, debugging, version control, and CI/CD.
- Experience creating APIs or backend services.
- Basic familiarity with cloud platforms and MLOps/LLMOps principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in teams.
Preferred Experience
- Prior exposure to H2O products.
- Background in full-stack or application development.
- Hackathon, internship, or open-source contributions.
- Understanding of model governance or enterprise AI delivery workflows.
- Experience working with enterprise or regulated data.
