AI Documentation Evaluator

Overview

Handshake is hiring experienced technical writers and documentation specialists to contribute to AI research through flexible, hourly contract assignments. This is not a standard full-time role in technical writing, documentation, or content creation. Instead, you will use your practical background in writing, editing, and improving technical documents to review AI-produced content and share feedback that helps improve clarity, accuracy, organization, consistency, tone, and overall quality.

This opportunity is project-based and ongoing, and it can be completed alongside your main job.

Project details

• You will draw on your professional experience and day-to-day knowledge of the tools you use to help create high-quality training data and judge AI responses for correctness and usefulness. Previous AI experience is not needed.
• The role is fully remote, follows a flexible asynchronous schedule, and has no minimum hours requirement. When a project is active, contributors typically work around 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Placement is based on current project demand, and you may be considered for future opportunities as they open up.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in technical writing, product marketing, or a similar writing or editorial position.
• Hands-on experience producing original technical content, editing drafts, and adjusting voice and tone for different audiences.
• Excellent written communication skills and a sharp eye for detail.
• Comfort working independently while following precise written instructions.
• Professional judgment, reliability, and the ability to handle sensitive or proprietary information carefully.
• No prior background in AI or technical fields is required.

This role is structured as flexible hourly contract work rather than a traditional permanent writing position. It is intended for professionals who can support AI evaluation tasks as needed, with assignments depending on available project requirements.
