About the internship
This remote, part-time internship is suited to a compassionate Clinical Psychologist Intern who wants to contribute to emotional support efforts for people affected by cancer and for their caregivers. It offers hands-on exposure to counseling, empathetic communication, and caregiver-focused support in a meaningful healthcare setting.
Role summary
You will help the team understand emotional needs, support basic mental health check-ins, and assist with psycho-oncology awareness content. The position is designed to provide practical experience while serving vulnerable families with care and confidentiality.
Key responsibilities
- Speak with cancer patients and caregivers at the outset to understand their emotional state and psychological concerns.
- Carry out basic mental health screening to spot possible signs of distress such as anxiety, grief, or low mood.
- Support the use of coping methods and emotional regulation tools that help families deal with diagnosis and treatment-related stress.
- Maintain regular follow-ups and outreach calls so families have a steady point of contact for emotional support.
- Create helpful resources, articles, and other content to build awareness around psycho-oncology.
- Keep progress notes accurate, organized, and ethically handled while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Join case reviews and feedback meetings to improve the patient support process.
