Undermanager

About the Role

This position plays a key leadership role within underground mining operations, guiding shift crews through planned production activities and keeping work aligned with daily and weekly schedules created by the planning team. The role also carries responsibility for meeting safety and environmental requirements across the assigned shift.

Successful candidates will receive paid accommodation for the roster period. The role can be arranged on a DIDO or residential basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Take initiative to confirm priorities, drive improvements, and work effectively with limited supervision while coordinating closely with peers.
• Make sure 24-hour plans are shared and clearly communicated to everyone who needs them on shift.
• When the plan needs to change, support the Shift Engineer, Deputies, and Trades so suitable decisions can be made.
• Oversee shift performance by monitoring personnel and reinforcing expected work practices and conduct.
• Ensure shift reporting is completed accurately and in full.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in underground longwall mining.
• Current certificate of competency as an Undermanager, or a qualification that is mutually recognised as equivalent.
• Preference for candidates with a minimum of 10 years in the mining sector.
• A strong history of managing operations at the same level or in a similar supervisory role.
• Clear leadership ability with demonstrated people management skills.

Additional Information

The position is based in Gunnedah, New South Wales, Australia. It is a full-time onsite role.
