About the role
This position sits within CAE’s Support Crew Member (SCM) Program, which is built for aviation professionals who want practical experience alongside advanced simulator training. The role supports clients training on aircraft simulators that require a minimum two-pilot crew, giving selected candidates exposure to real-world training environments and modern aircraft platforms.
The program is intended to prepare and certify participants to provide right-seat support for customers enrolled in FAA, EASA, and GCAA-approved training delivered under 14 CFR Part 142 and EASA ATO curricula at CAE facilities.
Program goals
- Develop candidates to perform the Pilot Monitoring function during FAA Part 61, 91, 135, EASA, and GCAA training sessions.
- Provide formal Second-in-Command simulator training for selected aircraft types.
- Give access to advanced programs and enrichment courses at no extra cost through CAE’s aviation training platform.
The program has helped launch many aviation careers and is designed to strengthen the professional profile of participants for opportunities with airlines and aviation organizations globally.
Program length and commitment
- The SCM Program lasts for two years.
- The value of the type rating and related training is recovered through a specified number of support sessions completed by the candidate.
- Support sessions are spread across four quarters, each with a defined minimum threshold.
Candidate profile
- Applicants must hold an FAA Commercial Pilot License or an Airline Transport Pilot License.
- An Airplane Multi-Engine Land rating is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities are expected.
- Candidates need a minimum of 200 flying hours.
