Overview
An established engineering consultancy is looking for a seasoned Project Manager to steer the end-to-end delivery of critical data centre developments in Doha. This position calls for strong leadership across design, construction, commissioning, and handover, along with close coordination of stakeholders, contractors, authorities, and specialist teams. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering complex facilities within agreed budgets, timelines, quality expectations, and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the full lifecycle of data centre projects, from early planning and design through construction, commissioning, and final handover.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the client and provide clear, strategic project updates.
- Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary teams made up of consultants, contractors, and specialist suppliers.
- Track and control project schedules, budgets, resourcing, risk logs, and mitigation actions.
- Liaise with local authorities and secure the required approvals, permits, and clearances.
- Maintain compliance with specifications, contract obligations, industry practices, and regulatory rules.
- Assess contractor performance, monitor site progress, and verify quality and safety compliance.
- Chair project meetings and produce progress reports that highlight milestones, issues, and risk exposure.
- Oversee commissioning and confirm that mission-critical systems are ready for operation.
- Coordinate across civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, ICT, and security disciplines throughout delivery.
- Identify project risks early and implement corrective measures to protect delivery objectives.
- Assist with procurement, contract administration, claims handling, and change management.
- Build effective working relationships with clients, authorities, contractors, utility providers, and end users.
- Promote strong project governance, reporting discipline, quality assurance, and delivery best practices.
- Guide junior colleagues and support business development through client relationships and project growth efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Electrical, or a related field such as Construction Management.
- PMP qualification or an equivalent project management credential.
- Data centre experience is required, including delivery of at least one project within the past five years.
- Chartership or an equivalent professional status is preferred.
- UPDA/MMUP Grade A in project management is preferred.
- 15 to 20 years of total professional experience.
- Proven background leading complex building, infrastructure, mission-critical, or data centre projects.
- Experience delivering projects in Qatar, working with authorities, managing contractors, and leading client-facing communication.
