Role overview
This position is suited to an energetic and committed person who is keen to work with children. The Children’s Therapy Team supports children and young people aged 0 to 19 with a wide range of special needs.
What you will do
You will help the Occupational Therapy Team across several community-based environments, including nurseries, mainstream schools, clinic settings, and children’s homes. A substantial part of the role will involve administrative work, alongside service development and wider organisational support for the Hounslow Children’s Occupational Therapy Team and the broader Therapy service.
Administrative support
- Arrange patient appointments.
- Contact parents to collect clinical details.
- Keep parents updated about waiting times and appointments.
- Manage the waiting list.
- Issue appointment letters, discharge letters, and therapy reports.
Therapy support
- Assist Occupational Therapists with individual and group therapy sessions for children on the caseload.
- Provide clinical support through observation, note-taking, and helping deliver training.
What is needed
You should be able to work on your own initiative as well as contribute effectively as part of a team. Strong computer literacy, good time management, and clear communication skills are essential. You also need to show understanding and empathy toward children with additional needs and their families.
