Occupational Therapy Assistant

Role overview

This position is suited to an energetic and committed person who is keen to work with children. The Children’s Therapy Team supports children and young people aged 0 to 19 with a wide range of special needs.

What you will do

You will help the Occupational Therapy Team across several community-based environments, including nurseries, mainstream schools, clinic settings, and children’s homes. A substantial part of the role will involve administrative work, alongside service development and wider organisational support for the Hounslow Children’s Occupational Therapy Team and the broader Therapy service.

Administrative support

• Arrange patient appointments.
• Contact parents to collect clinical details.
• Keep parents updated about waiting times and appointments.
• Manage the waiting list.
• Issue appointment letters, discharge letters, and therapy reports.

Therapy support

• Assist Occupational Therapists with individual and group therapy sessions for children on the caseload.
• Provide clinical support through observation, note-taking, and helping deliver training.

What is needed

You should be able to work on your own initiative as well as contribute effectively as part of a team. Strong computer literacy, good time management, and clear communication skills are essential. You also need to show understanding and empathy toward children with additional needs and their families.
