About the Role
This position is for an E&I Maintenance Technician supporting a manufacturing site in Cork. The role focuses on calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability work for key production instrumentation, while ensuring all activities are completed in line with site procedures and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out calibrations at the required intervals based on the device list and complete all supporting records.
- Raise deviations and change controls through the Trackwise system in accordance with site procedures.
- Troubleshoot important manufacturing instrumentation and help resolve technical issues on site.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as part of the site maintenance program.
- Support safety initiatives and help promote an injury-free workplace.
- Work closely with a broader engineering group that includes mechanical, electrical, automation, facilities, project, and systems specialists.
- Use SAP Next and the work order process to manage maintenance activities consistently.
- Look for opportunities to strengthen calibration capability, including improved use of newer instrumentation and technology.
- Reduce reliance on outside calibration providers for critical calibration work.
- Ensure maintenance work complies with regulatory requirements, including FDA, IMB, HSA, and EPA standards.
- Contribute ideas and implement projects aimed at improving efficiency.
- Help develop a risk-based approach to identifying critical spare parts and make sure key spares remain available.
- Carry out work with full attention to safety, environmental, GxP, and plant procedures.
- Assist with major equipment issues when needed.
- Support other shift technicians when technical resources are limited.
- Handle related administrative tasks such as raising purchase orders and filing calibration certificates.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will bring strong calibration and maintenance experience in a regulated manufacturing setting, along with the ability to work collaboratively and handle responsibilities with accuracy and initiative.
Requirements
- Completion of an Instrumentation, Electrical, or E&I apprenticeship.
- Solid calibration experience; additional calibration certification is an advantage for electrically qualified candidates.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Practical understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and control systems in a production setting.
- Experience in an ATEX environment is beneficial.
- Proven record of strong performance and the ability to deliver results.
- Comfort working with people at all levels of an organisation.
- Previous exposure to a CMMS system is preferred.
- Working knowledge of planned preventive maintenance methods.
- Strong awareness of quality, environmental health, and safety practices.
- Familiarity with GMP expectations in regulated industries.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to contribute effectively in a team-based environment.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to motivate others.
- Self-driven, eager to learn, and willing to take ownership.
- Strong organisation, planning, and time-management skills.
- Comfortable using computers and common office software such as Excel and Word.
- Structured and methodical working style.
- Willingness to work shifts if required.
- Willingness to work a reasonable amount of overtime.
