Role Overview
The Laboratory Technician will contribute to day-to-day lab operations in a regulated environment and support routine testing, documentation, quality checks, and laboratory upkeep. The role requires strong accuracy, the ability to work methodically from established procedures, and comfort working with laboratory software and shared systems.
Core Duties
- Handle standard laboratory instruments such as PCR systems and tabletop centrifuges.
- Carry out assigned work strictly in line with approved procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to complete tasks in a team-based setting.
- Check raw results for accuracy, quality, and consistency.
- Perform basic statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel.
- Keep laboratory records current, complete, and organized in the lab notebook.
- Work within a regulated GCP setting using a Laboratory Information and Management Software (LIMS).
- Help maintain the laboratory by cleaning freezers, equipment, and shared work areas, and by replenishing common reagents and consumables.
- Support the setup and validation of new assays and devices.
- Follow all applicable laws and regulatory requirements connected to the company’s operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed vocational training as BTA, CTA, MTLA, or an equivalent qualification, with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in life sciences plus educational laboratory experience and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong focus on precision, documentation quality, and attention to detail.
- Solid laboratory technique, including pipetting and procedure execution in clinical, sterile, or molecular settings as needed.
- Experience with converting measurements and preparing chemical solutions and buffers.
- Ability to understand protocols and reproduce them consistently based on prior lab work.
- Working familiarity with laboratory methods and equipment such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and NGS.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills in both German and English.
