Housekeeper

Role Overview

This position is focused on keeping assigned spaces clean, orderly, and presentable. The housekeeper is also expected to escalate issues to a supervisor, including concerns not specifically listed in the duties, and to work collaboratively with the rest of the team. Compliance with company policies and procedures, including punctuality and similar workplace standards, is required. Responsibilities and task volumes may be adjusted by the supervisor whenever business needs change.

Core Duties

• Maintain sanitary conditions in hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, common rooms, and other assigned areas so that health standards are met.
• Vacuum or shampoo rugs, carpets, upholstered items, and draperies as needed.
• Remove trash, empty waste containers, clean ashtrays, and move refuse to disposal areas.
• Transport toiletries and cleaning materials with wheeled carts.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using manual or powered cleaning equipment.
• Dust and shine furniture and equipment.
• Keep storage spaces and cleaning carts stocked, organized, and clean.
• Clear debris from driveways, garages, and pool areas.
• Clean windows, walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork, including waxing and polishing where required.
• Escalate maintenance concerns such as burned-out lights, leaks, or damaged equipment to the Building Maintenance Department.
• Disinfect equipment and supplies using appropriate germicides or steam-based sterilization tools.
• Dust window blinds.
• Follow all state, federal, and company safety rules and precautions to support a safe workplace.
• Protect residents, guests, and property by following required precautions and reporting damage, theft, and found items to supervisors.
• Set up rooms for meetings and arrange furniture and decorations for social or business events.
• Use new equipment correctly and follow safety steps before operating it.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests when needed.
• Assist at the beach area if required.

Work Environment

The role is based in a residential setting and centers on cleaning common and waiting areas. The employee must be comfortable working with chemical cleaning products and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

This job involves frequent standing, walking, stair climbing, ladder use, crouching, kneeling, and working in small or tight spaces. It also requires lifting, carrying, or moving up to 20 pounds, pushing cleaning equipment up to 30 pounds, and using hands and arms for gripping, reaching, and repetitive motions.

Schedule and Employment Terms

This is a non-exempt hourly role. Working hours are set by each property or location based on the community’s needs, and the schedule may change depending on business requirements.

Experience and Skills Needed

Applicants should have at least one year of experience cleaning condominium buildings. Familiarity with cleaning and sanitation products, standard residential cleaning equipment, and emergency response expectations is required, along with clear written and verbal communication skills.
