Role overview
Aspen Medical is seeking a General Practitioner to deliver comprehensive primary care in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, preventive health, and safe clinical practice within the clinic setting.
Key duties
- Work closely with the assigned nurse, customer service team, and reception staff to confirm appointment details and advise on any preparation needed before consultation, procedures, treatment, or follow-up visits.
- Carry out thorough, complete, and holistic clinical assessments in line with accepted standards for consultation, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Request investigations such as X-rays, ultrasound scans, blood tests, and similar diagnostics, then review, interpret, analyze, and track the results promptly according to the patient’s case.
- Administer vaccinations for both treatment and prevention, including travel vaccines and influenza vaccines.
- Provide care that aligns with Aspen Medical’s clinical scope, internal policies, procedures, and all applicable legal requirements.
- Diagnose, manage, and follow up on both acute and long-term medical conditions.
- Prescribe medicines and explain usage instructions clearly based on the identified condition.
- Support a respectful care environment where equality and diversity are upheld and patients, along with their caregivers, are included in decision-making.
- Deliver health education to patients and families when needed.
- Reassess patients and review treatment plans whenever required.
- Use medical equipment, devices, and instruments safely during examination, treatment, and related care.
- Discuss medical concerns with patients, explain preventive steps, and build appropriate care plans.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure complete and well-rounded patient care.
- Contribute to approved health promotion initiatives under the guidance of the Medical Director or Head of Department.
- Follow the referral pathway when patient needs go beyond the available scope of care and specialist input is required.
- Deliver safe, high-quality medical services in line with local and international standards, and explain procedures and treatments clearly to build patient trust and cooperation.
- Protect patients and staff by following infection prevention, control, and safety procedures.
- Ensure patient education is delivered and properly recorded as part of the care process.
- Document all consultations, treatments, education, and services in the patient record, whether paper-based or electronic, according to professional standards.
- Safeguard the confidentiality and privacy of patient health information.
- Escalate any health or safety concern that could place patients or staff at risk to the Medical Director.
- Support infection prevention and control practices throughout the clinic.
- Assist the Infection Control Officer and other responsible personnel with infection control and occupational health and safety programs.
- Keep professional knowledge current by attending workshops and participating in ongoing in-service training.
- Operate within the assigned clinical scope and follow instructions from the Head of Department when required.
- Take part in contingency arrangements during accidents or incidents inside the clinic or facility.
- Oversee the safe use, upkeep, troubleshooting, repair coordination, and inventory control of medical equipment and devices, while guiding the assigned Registered Nurse in preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a secure and clean workspace in line with facility procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Support the Emergency Response Team during medical emergencies and evacuations, and keep BLS, PALS, and/or ACLS certification current as required.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Medical Director or Head of Department.
Selection criteria
Essential:
- A recognized MBBS, MBChB, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of internship training plus at least two years of clinical experience.
- Eligibility for a valid UAE medical license as a General Practitioner, or current possession of one.
- Any additional relevant certifications or licenses will be considered an advantage.
