Role overview

An established infrastructure business in the South West is seeking an experienced Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Estimator to strengthen its busy Project Division. The position is based in Somerset and offers a salary of £60,000 to £65,000 per year, subject to experience, plus a benefits package.

What the role involves

• Producing detailed and reliable estimates for M&E projects.
• Building accurate tender submissions and project cost plans.
• Working from technical drawings and specifications to assess scope and pricing.
• Using estimating tools and Microsoft Office to support bid preparation.
• Applying strong commercial judgement and close attention to detail throughout the estimating process.

Required experience and knowledge

• At least 35 years of experience as an estimator in the building services or M&E sector.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and submit precise project tenders and cost plans.
• Confidence in interpreting technical documentation and drawings.
• Competence with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong commercial awareness and a careful, accurate approach to work.

Preferred qualifications

• HNC, HND, or a degree in Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or a similar discipline.
• Previous exposure to commercial, residential, and public sector projects.
