The standard working pattern is 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility across days and/or hours from Monday to Friday.
What you will do
You will support research-led work, bring evidence into internal and external decision-making, and help turn analysis into clear outputs. The role involves handling data, shaping insights, creating visuals, and contributing to appraisal, evaluation, and impact studies. You will also work on a variety of projects, prepare briefings and research material, and build effective relationships with colleagues and outside stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Work within a collaborative economics team to explore issues affecting smaller business finance and the impact of the Bank’s initiatives.
- Carry out research and analysis that contributes to the Bank’s understanding and decision-making.
- Interpret data, select appropriate methods, and produce evidence-based findings that can withstand detailed review.
- Translate complex results into clear written insight for both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Create charts, tables, and other visual materials to support reports and presentations.
- Contribute to appraisal, evaluation, and impact-related work across multiple projects.
- Prepare briefings, research outputs, and supporting materials for internal and external use.
- Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
What the role requires
You should have proven experience using microeconomics to address real-world issues, along with the ability to choose suitable data sources and analytical approaches. You will need to be comfortable working independently in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and experience with econometric, mapping, or statistical software would be beneficial. The role also calls for someone who can handle complex information, communicate findings in a structured way, and contribute positively in a team environment. Knowledge of the Bank’s mission and policy context would be an added advantage. A degree or equivalent relevant experience is required.
