Role overview
This position supports a business partner and design team on interior design projects while offering training to the right candidate. The role is suited to someone early in their design career who is interested in learning how to manage smaller or partial projects, handle documentation, and assist with day-to-day studio operations.
Core duties
- Assist interior designers with project-specific design work.
- Request and organize samples, and help build project budgets.
- Prepare proposals and purchase orders under designer direction.
- Monitor orders, coordinate scheduling, and support delivery and installation activities.
- Maintain client records, notebooks, and electronic files according to office standards.
- Create CAD drawings using AutoCAD LT.
- Help manage very small jobs with supervision and support.
- Handle errands and other tasks as required.
- Organize and maintain the resource library.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has an Interior Design degree from a CIDA-accredited school, 0 to 2 years of design or related experience, and confidence using AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT. You should understand furniture layouts and scale/proportion, work well in a collaborative and fast-moving environment, and communicate clearly and professionally.
