Data Center Facilities Technician, Electrical

Role overview

This role sits within the data center facilities team, where you will help run and protect critical electrical and support systems that keep the site operating reliably. The position involves hands-on work with power distribution, generators, UPS systems, monitoring controls, and related infrastructure, along with routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs. You will also assist senior technicians by reviewing technical drawings, walking systems, and checking equipment condition.

The work is part of a broader team focused on large-scale infrastructure, reliability, efficiency, and safe operations across advanced computing environments.

Minimum qualifications

• An associate degree, trade school credential, certified technical training in a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial setting, such as electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, or move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and to use safety gear and access equipment such as ladders, step stools, limited weight-bearing work platforms, and PPE including safety harnesses, in line with ergonomic and safety requirements.
• Availability to work non-standard hours and rotating shifts.
• Current right to work in Singapore without needing visa sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications

• 2 years of experience maintaining electrical distribution systems or working in construction, technical environments, or a related field.
• Background in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
• Working knowledge of data center electrical systems, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units.
• Familiarity with meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using hand tools, digital meters, or calibration and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to coordinate clearly with contractors carrying out maintenance or upgrade work on data center systems.

Responsibilities

You will inspect, maintain, and repair a range of data center systems. The job also includes supporting daily technical work by reviewing blueprints, schematics, and sequence-of-operations documentation, performing system walk-throughs, and checking whether equipment is functioning as expected.

You will help maintain uptime for UPS units, generators, electrical distribution systems, and control/monitoring infrastructure. In addition, you will monitor facilities equipment, respond to unusual conditions, and support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical systems into the site infrastructure.

The role requires a strong focus on safety, environmental standards, quick fault resolution, and helping reduce operating costs while improving overall efficiency.
