Overview
Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) is seeking a dependable, energetic, and qualified individual to join its growing organization. This full-time custodial role supports the wellbeing of Band Members and the wider community by keeping buildings on the Kamloops Indian Reserve clean, sanitary, and safe.
This is a permanent position reporting to the Custodian Supervisor in the Human Resources department. The role focuses on thorough cleaning, disinfection, and upkeep of indoor spaces in line with health procedures, universal precautions, and workplace safety requirements.
Key duties
- Clean and disinfect assigned spaces while following safe work practices, procedures, and disease-prevention protocols.
- Perform daily cleaning of offices, washrooms, shared spaces, coffee rooms, and lounges.
- Carry out periodic cleaning of stairways, floors, interior walls, ceilings, drapes, and Venetian blinds.
- Move cleaning materials to work areas using utility carts.
- Wipe sinks, toilets, mirrors, furnishings, and equipment using disinfectants and germicidal products where required.
- Vacuum, mop, dry mop, and polish floors as needed.
- Handle spot cleaning and restocking of supplies.
- Provide care and basic maintenance for custodial equipment such as carts and vacuums.
- Clean vents, walls, and windows with appropriate disinfecting products.
- Complete full-area cleaning on quarterly, biannual, and annual schedules.
- Collect and remove garbage and sharps containers.
- Watch for unusual sounds, smells, or other signs that equipment may not be working properly.
- Act as a first point of contact for complaints related to the work area.
- Report equipment problems or other concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow all TteS policies, standards, and procedures.
- Protect the confidentiality of all TteS matters.
- Carry out additional related tasks when required.
Qualifications
- Grade 10 education or an equivalent level of schooling is required.
- Ability to understand spoken and written English well enough to follow safety directions, procedures, universal precautions, and WHMIS requirements.
- Completion of WHMIS training is required.
- Applicants must be in good physical condition and health.
- A valid First Aid certificate and CPR Level C certificate are required.

Work schedule and compensation
Normal day shifts are 7 hours. Some non-standard shifts may be required.
Pay starts at $20.08 per hour.
