CAD Designer

Role Overview

We’re representing a growing civil engineering and surveying team that needs a CAD Designer to prepare precise, production-ready drawings for land development, site design, and survey assignments. This position works closely with licensed engineers and surveyors to turn field data, design intent, and engineering calculations into complete plan sets ready for permit submission using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

The right person will be meticulous, very confident in Civil 3D, and able to juggle several live drawings in a fast-moving environment with tight timelines.

Responsibilities

• Create civil engineering plan sets for grading, drainage, utilities, and site layout using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Bring survey field information into base drawings and existing-conditions plans.
• Draft plats, easements, legal descriptions, and survey exhibits.
• Follow and uphold CAD standards, template use, layer conventions, and LISP-based routines.
• Work with engineers and surveyors to clarify design details and confirm drawing accuracy.
• Assemble permit submittal packages and respond to redline feedback from municipalities.
• Track drawing revisions and keep project folders well organized.
• Support quantity take-offs and preparation of construction details.

Required Qualifications

• At least 2 years of practical AutoCAD Civil 3D production experience.
• Background creating civil site plan sets from concept stage through permit-ready drawings.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, surveys, and legal descriptions correctly.
• Strong focus on detail and accuracy.
• Capability to handle multiple active drawings at the same time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on land development, subdivision, or site design work.
• Exposure to AutoLISP routines and drafting workflow automation.
• Experience processing survey data such as point files, surfaces, and boundary drafting.
• Familiarity with municipal submittal requirements and permitting procedures.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a similar field.
