Role Overview

The Assistant Manager - GST role focuses on end-to-end GST compliance, reconciliations, audit support, and process improvement. The position also involves coordination with internal teams, manufacturing units, and regional offices to ensure accurate tax reporting and timely statutory filings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage GST compliance activities and ensure filings are completed correctly and on time.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and annual GST returns, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations between inward registers and GSTR-2B to detect mismatches, coordinate corrections with stakeholders, and protect ITC claims within prescribed timelines.
  • Carry out three-way reconciliation for outward supply records covering invoices, e-way bills, and IRN.
  • Compute exempt supply reversals and monthly GST liability.
  • Match GST portal balances with accounting records and pass required accounting entries.
  • Process monthly GST set-off and ITC reversal entries.
  • Support GST audits by preparing reconciliations of revenue between financial statements and GST returns.
  • Share inward and outward registers, GST working papers, vendor reconciliations, invoices, and other supporting documents for audit requirements.
  • Maintain GST documentation, records, and registers required for refund processing.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing locations and regional offices on GST-related matters.
  • Reconcile ISD vendor invoices with GSTR-6A, compute ISD distribution, and ensure timely filing of GSTR-6.
  • Identify common head office costs and allocate them across relevant GST registrations through cross-charging.
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives, including vendor reconciliation, ISD distribution, outward supply reconciliation, and GST software/tool implementation.
  • Handle ITC accumulation and utilization issues, including refund application preparation.
  • Assist in diagnostic reviews of GST compliance by identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities to strengthen processes and documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant with relevant experience handling GST compliance.
  • Prior exposure to FMCG or pharma industry operations is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in GST return filing, reconciliation work, and audit notices is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel is expected.
