About the role
Wētā Workshop creates imaginative worlds through highly detailed props, costumes, armour, creatures, miniatures, bigatures, and related craft. Its Finance team keeps the organisation moving by providing the core financial services that support day-to-day operations.
What you’ll do
This role is mainly a sole-responsibility Accounts Payable position, with additional support in credit card administration and broader finance administration when needed.
- Handle the full workflow for domestic and overseas supplier invoices.
- Prepare single and recurring payment runs for both local and international payments.
- Coordinate review and approval of payment batches.
- Set up and maintain direct debits and other recurring payment arrangements.
- Manage company credit cards, including issuing new cards, changing limits, and ensuring cardholders code transactions on time.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts linked to Accounts Payable and credit cards, and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to crew enquiries and manage the Accounts Payable inbox.
- Support crew in using the new finance system effectively.
As you settle into the position, there may also be scope to assist with accounts receivable, payroll, contractor payments, reconciliations, reporting, and other finance-related administration.
What we’re looking for
You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume administration and coordination environment where strong customer service matters. The role calls for someone who can take ownership of the AP function and keep operations running reliably.
We’re looking for a person who shows initiative, manages time well, and can consistently meet deadlines across multiple tasks. You’ll also need to be a confident and proactive communicator who is comfortable picking up the phone, speaking with crew on the floor, knowing when to keep others informed, and when to escalate an issue.
Experience using a modern finance system is essential. The exact platform is not important, but you must have worked in a role involving a complex system with decentralised purchase orders and receipting.
Work environment and location
The team is based in Miramar, Wellington, so commuting needs to be practical. After you are established in the role, one day per week working from home may be available, although the position is primarily onsite because many team members work on location and need the Accounts Administrator to be available to them.
Why join us
You’ll be part of a supportive and friendly finance team that works hard and backs each other. Wētā Workshop is a diverse workplace with plenty happening at any given time, plus free fruit, good company, and excellent coffee to help power your day.
Additional information
If you need any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, the team is happy to discuss accommodations.
The chosen candidate must complete a Ministry of Justice check and a credit check.
