About the Company
The Season is a creative production business that develops key art, creates websites, and produces marketing assets across a wide range of formats, from banner advertising to theater signage.
Role Overview
The Studio Director will be responsible for keeping the studio running smoothly, aligning client priorities with team capacity, and making sure the right work is assigned to the right people at the right time. This is a leadership role that involves hiring, strengthening the team, and balancing expectations between clients and internal teams. It calls for someone who is comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving environment and who can help shape processes as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day studio operations and keep multiple projects moving in parallel.
- Translate client needs into practical priorities the team can execute immediately.
- Hire creative talent and help build a strong roster of freelancers and employees.
- Allocate work effectively based on team strengths, availability, and project demands.
- Manage communication across clients, designers, and account teams with speed and clarity.
- Anticipate issues in creative execution and flag problems before they affect delivery.
- Help define and improve production and studio processes as the business evolves.
- Stay informed about tools and workflows that improve creative production and layout efficiency.
- Represent the studio confidently in complex situations, especially when projects go off track.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has direct experience leading a creative studio or agency and can explain what that responsibility looks like under pressure. They should be skilled at prioritizing urgent work, communicating well with both creative and client-facing stakeholders, and managing people in a way that earns trust. A strong instinct for operations and process matters, but the person should not be rigid or overly attached to procedures. The company is specifically looking for someone who has already run a studio; if that experience is missing, this role is not a match.
Requirements
- Prior experience running a creative studio or agency is essential.
- Ability to prioritize and respond effectively when several urgent issues arise at once.
- Experience managing creative teams and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfort working in an evolving environment where processes may need to be built from scratch.
- Interest in modern tools that support creative production and layout work.
- A professional network of creative contacts that could support team growth is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary of $100,000.
- Paid time off covering vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
- Hybrid work setup with in-office days Tuesday through Thursday and work from home on Monday and Friday.
- Medical and dental insurance.
- Family leave coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Cell phone reimbursement.
- Laptop provided.
Application Notes
A degree is not important for this role, and prior experience with specific software platforms is also not a deciding factor. A standard cover letter is not requested. Applicants are encouraged to share a real example of a studio or project crisis they handled and explain what they did in response.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.
Location
This role is based in New York, NY, with a hybrid arrangement.
