Role overview

This position is for a Service Technician supporting wind turbine operations for a global renewable energy business. The role combines electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic work to keep turbines running safely and efficiently while contributing to the wider shift toward sustainable energy.

Work location and schedule

The job is based across regional Australia and is not a FIFO arrangement, so candidates need to be located in or near the region. Possible locations include:

Standard working time is 8 hours per day, with weekend on-call duty roughly once every 3 to 4 weeks. Travel is expected for about 50 days each year.

Key responsibilities

The service team’s main focus is to deliver high-quality maintenance and operational support for wind farms across Australia.

  • Carry out work to the highest safety and environmental standards while meeting service targets.
  • Perform scheduled inspections as specified by the company, including fault-finding and replacement work on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
  • Help ensure reliable turbine performance by using condition monitoring and remote control systems.
  • Keep the service vehicle and warehouse organized by arranging materials, tools, and spare parts as needed.
  • Assemble and maintain components in line with current standards and work instructions, including the use of internal or external cranes when required.

Requirements

  • A trade background in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic work, along with a strong interest in further developing those skills.
  • Comfortable using computers and different systems for monitoring work and maintaining records.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Clear commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Ability to climb wind turbines and carry out physically demanding work at heights and in varied weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to other sites when needed.
