About the Role

What You’ll Do
In this position, you will help keep the yard organized and safe by managing inbound and outbound traffic, guiding customers to proper unloading points, and making sure they are wearing the required personal protective equipment. You will inspect incoming and outgoing loads against company standards, communicate any issues to the office, and help maintain safe separation between customers and heavy equipment.
- Keep constant communication with the office and the operators who manage traffic through the unloading area.
- Direct customers to the correct unloading zones and help maintain safe distance from heavy equipment.
- Inspect each load, promptly share findings with the office, and note any non-compliance on the inspection record.
- Keep the shredder unloading area clean and orderly.
- Apply deductions in a fair and consistent manner.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent high school education.
- No prior experience is required, although experience in manufacturing, production, or a scrapyard/auto parts environment will be viewed as an advantage.
- Ability to handle physically demanding work, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, and lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
- Comfort working outdoors and in changing weather, including very hot, dry summers and cold, harsh winters.
- Willingness to work in conditions that may include dust, odors, fumes, and noise.
- Strong customer-service mindset with a commitment to handling interactions professionally and promptly.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to listen carefully and consistently.
- Team-oriented approach, with the ability to build trust, set expectations, and support team morale.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required because the site is not reachable by city transit.
