Role overview
This is a remote Scheduling Coordinator opportunity in the United States, posted for a partner employer that handles the application and hiring process directly. The role is centered on making sure patients are routed quickly and accurately to the right specialists through careful scheduling and referral coordination.
You will act as the connection point between healthcare providers, patients, and outside specialty clinics, managing referral activity from intake through completion. The position demands strong organization, careful review of medical records, and confident use of healthcare documentation systems. Because the work is fast-moving and remote, precision and responsiveness are essential to prevent delays in patient access to care. This is a structured administrative role in healthcare for someone who enjoys operational work that has a direct impact on patients.
Key accountabilities
- Examine electronic health records to gather, confirm, and organize the patient details needed for referral handling.
- Build complete referral packages that include demographics, insurance information, and recent clinical notes while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Send referral materials to outside specialists through fax, phone, and secure digital healthcare systems.
- Use internal tools to locate the right specialty provider and route referrals according to patient needs.
- Check submissions for missing or incorrect information and resolve issues before they are sent.
- Work with care coordination and follow-up teams to keep the referral process moving smoothly end to end.
- Provide backup support for other operational tasks through cross-training and general administrative assistance.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of background in medical office administration, healthcare clerical work, patient services, or a similar administrative setting. Experience with EHR systems and standard healthcare documentation practices is important, along with strong data entry ability and a sharp eye for detail.
You should be able to handle several priorities at once, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally within a healthcare coordination setting. Comfort working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment is also needed. Experience with referral workflows, insurance checks, or specialty care coordination is helpful, and familiarity with specialties such as cardiology, dermatology, ENT, or orthopedics is an advantage.
Benefits
- 100% remote work with steady full-time hours.
- Hourly pay in the range of $16 to $17.
- Structured onboarding and training support.
- Room for professional growth and advancement in healthcare operations.
- Collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Work that contributes directly to better access to specialty care for patients.
