Sanitation Operator

Role overview

The Sanitation Operator is a full-time regular position based in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada. The role is centered on keeping the production line and surrounding plant areas clean, safe, and compliant with company hygiene standards, food safety rules, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The schedule follows a 4-days-on, 4-days-off rotation.

What you will do

• Keep production lines and assigned plant areas clean and sanitary.
• Use water hoses and approved cleaning chemicals to wash equipment and facility areas after the required training.
• Work in line with GMP requirements and all food safety procedures.
• Spot hazards and raise safety concerns with supervisors right away.
• Help with sanitation-related improvement efforts and broader plant initiatives.
• Clean packaging zones, dry storage areas, and shared spaces such as doors, walls, and floors.
• Handle waste-related work, including garbage removal and washing waste totes.
• Use sanitation tools and equipment such as floor scrubbers, and carry out manual cleaning when needed.
• Clean pipes, railings, stairs, and outdoor areas, including the area around the smoke shack.
• Carry out scheduled sanitation work on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Support operations when needed, including covering the peeler operator or other duties.
• Manage chemical drum changes, label removal, cleaning, and correct disposal procedures.
• Take part in mandatory cleanup days and complete assigned MDI tasks.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed by supervisors.

• Physical ability to do manual cleaning work and operate sanitation equipment.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training as decided by the Sanitation Supervisor.

The sanitation team is essential to plant operations, helping ensure that production and facility spaces meet strict cleanliness and safety requirements. Team members work closely with production operators and supervisors to support efficient operations and food safety compliance. Training is hands-on and supported by experienced sanitation employees under the guidance of the Sanitation Supervisor.

Compensation

The starting pay for this role is CAD 22.24 per hour, with bonus eligibility and hourly pay differential for applicable shifts. The final offer will depend on experience, skills, education, training, and other business needs. This is an existing vacancy.
