A long-established main contractor is looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to its commercial team for a significant project in Galway. The business has a strong track record of delivering successful projects over many years and is well regarded across the West of Ireland, with a steady flow of public and private sector work in the region.
This role suits a Quantity Surveyor who understands public works contracts and wants to join a stable contractor with room to grow. The role will be tied to a Galway project for the next 2–3 years, giving the successful person continuity on site and the chance to build commercial expertise in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
You will support the commercial running of construction projects from the start of the job through to final account.
- Assist with the financial and commercial control of projects from commencement to final account.
- Prepare and maintain budgets, valuations, and cost reporting.
- Handle subcontractor procurement and package management.
- Track project expenditure and contribute to forecasting and financial updates.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Work alongside project managers and site teams to keep tight control of costs.
- Follow contractual requirements and internal company procedures.
- Support senior commercial colleagues with project delivery and reporting tasks.
Requirements
The employer is seeking someone with a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a similar discipline, along with at least 3 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying position.
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
- Strong working knowledge of Public Works Contracts is required.
- Background in a contractor-side environment.
- Good commercial judgement and contract administration ability.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
- A motivated professional seeking progression with an established contractor.
