Role overview
This position is for a Mechanical QA/QC Engineer with substantial practical experience in nondestructive testing, piping, welding, and fabrication quality control. The assignment is based in Jamnagar, Gujarat, for an industrial project, and the role centers on inspection activities, quality documentation, coordination with client and third-party teams, and adherence to approved inspection and quality plans, governing codes, and project specifications.

Key responsibilities
- Apply and oversee quality assurance and quality control plans, inspection and test plans, checklists, and QA/QC procedures for mechanical scope.
- Check incoming materials by reviewing material test certificates, confirming identification and traceability, and ensuring proper preservation.
- Monitor piping fabrication and erection, including welding, fit-up, spool verification, dimensional checks, and alignment control.
- Arrange and witness NDT activities such as RT, UT, MT, PT, and VT, while confirming coverage, reporting, and acceptance criteria.
- Examine welding documents including WPS, PQR, and WPQ, along with control of welding consumables and heat-number traceability.
- Verify compliance with applicable standards such as ASME, API, and ISO, as well as project-specific requirements.
- Track PWHT, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, flushing and blowing where applicable, and preparation of test packs.
- Handle nonconformance reports, corrective and preventive actions, root-cause analysis, and resolution with client or consultant teams.
- Prepare and maintain QA/QC records including daily logs, inspection reports, NDT records, test packs, and handover dossiers.
- Work closely with construction, planning, and subcontractor teams to support quality targets and project progress.
- Support audits, client inspections, and final handover activities to ensure readiness for acceptance.
Required background
- Hands-on experience with piping and fabrication QA/QC, along with NDT coordination in industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of welding inspections, joint fit-up checks, welder qualification, traceability, and related records.
- Understanding of hydrotesting and test-pack preparation, including closure activities.
- Familiarity with inspection tools and gauges such as vernier calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, and DFT gauges.
- Ability to manage QA/QC paperwork and coordinate effectively with client and third-party representatives.
Preferred profile
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 certification and NDT Level II in any method will be an added advantage.
- Prior exposure to refinery, petrochemical, steel, or other industrial project environments is preferred.
Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. The opportunity is intended for professionals with 8 to 12 years of experience in relevant QA/QC mechanical work.
