About the Role
AECOM is hiring a Project Coordinator for its Transit & Rail team in Mississauga, Ontario. This is a newly introduced position supporting transportation projects connected to freight rail and transit rail.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and oversee project activities, including the review of designs and construction work tied to infrastructure projects on or near railway property, ensuring alignment with railway standards.
- Serve as a point of contact between third-party applicants and the railway.
- Support project managers with both routine and ad hoc tasks across rail and transportation assignments.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Track project costs, budgets, and monthly billing.
- Prepare weekly and monthly status updates.
- Review drawings, reports, and contractor shop drawings and compile client submissions.
- Set up new projects and maintain schedules while monitoring work progress.
- Draft technical specifications and bid documents.
- Handle NAPT submissions and RCAC coordination.
- Collect and analyze data under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
- Use computer tools to help solve basic engineering-related problems.
- Carry out assigned work within approved budget and schedule limits under supervision.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, along with 2 years of experience in heavy civil engineering.
- Preferably 1+ year of experience in transit and railway work.
- About 3+ years of experience is considered ideal.
- Knowledge of railway rules, regulations, safety practices, and operating procedures.
- Background in project coordination, transit, or rail projects.
- Exposure to on-site work such as construction supervision, surveying, or compaction monitoring/testing.
- Project management exposure will be an advantage.
- Ability to review or prepare engineering plans and design documents.
- Strong English writing and speaking skills.
- Professional client interaction skills.
- Good interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and staying detail-focused.
- Self-directed attitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
