About the role
This contract opportunity is with Mercor, a company that connects highly skilled creative and technical professionals with top AI research labs. The organization is based in San Francisco and is backed by investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
The position is for a Physics PhD specialist working remotely. The assignment centers on producing advanced physics content for AI research work, with a focus on generating difficult problems and high-quality training data.
What you'll do
- Design challenging questions and problems across areas such as statistical mechanics, condensed matter, AMO physics, and related physics subfields.
- Support a project that uses cutting-edge large language models.
- Contribute data that helps improve future AI systems and research outcomes.
- Coordinate with AI research teams to keep the output accurate, useful, and relevant.
- Work on your own schedule and deliver tasks independently within deadlines.
Required qualifications
- A PhD in Physics is required.
- A graduate degree from the US, UK, Canada, or Western Europe is required.
- You should have a strong eye for detail.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills are necessary.
- Advanced English fluency is essential.
Commitment and timing
The expected workload is around 4 to 6 tasks each week.
The planned start month is February, and applications are assessed on a rolling basis.
