Role overview
This opportunity is based in the paint facility at Rotork’s Bath factory, where you will support the wider production team by helping deliver consistently high-quality output. You will work as part of the paint operations group and report to the Production Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Keep paint, blasting, pre-wash, and quality standards at the required level.
- Follow established paint shop workflows and procedures, including EPA requirements.
- Work in full compliance with health and safety rules at all times.
- Contribute actively to continuous improvement activities, including lean and 5S practices.
- Make sure the necessary tools and equipment are available and properly maintained.
- Support the Team Leader in monitoring paint shop performance and KPIs.
- Complete all job-related documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean and well-organised work area.
- Request paint and other materials needed for shop-floor operations.
- Respond promptly to inspection findings and reports.
- Escalate any unusual issues or defects to the Team Leader.
- Carry out day-to-day paint process tasks.
- Provide support in other areas when suitably trained.
What the role needs
The role is best suited to someone who communicates clearly, works well within a team, and is keen to learn and develop new capabilities.
Qualifications and experience
- A City and Guilds apprenticeship, or equivalent, in paint spraying.
- A City and Guilds apprenticeship, or equivalent, in shot blasting.
- NACE or ICORR certification at level 1, 2, or 3 would be an advantage.
- IOSH risk assessment qualification is desirable.
- Strong hands-on experience in paint spraying and shot blasting within an automated paint plant.
- A consistent track record of applying skills to related work, backed by a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of the procedures and policies needed to work safely in a paint plant environment.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S methods.
- Awareness of health and safety, fire, and environmental policies.
Core skills
- Ability to use spray equipment and shot blasting tools competently.
- Good understanding of paint application methods and processes.
- Working knowledge of paint products and coating systems.
- Ability to understand planning methods and related work practices.
