Role overview

This full-time Laundry Attendant position is based at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, within the Canadian Rockies. The property is part of the Autograph by Marriott collection and offers a resort-style environment with a strong focus on service, development, and a fast-moving workplace culture.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.00. Staff housing is subsidized and available on site. Seasonal availability applies and is subject to cut-off dates.

Key duties

The Laundry Attendant supports the hotel’s day-to-day laundry operation by cleaning, processing, and preparing linens, towels, uniforms, and guest items to required standards. The role helps ensure items are completed on schedule, handled safely, and kept in excellent condition.

• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry according to established procedures.
• Check items for stains, damage, and cleanliness, and escalate missing or damaged pieces to the Laundry Supervisor.
• Use chemicals, detergents, and laundry equipment correctly and in line with safety and brand requirements.
• Load and unload laundry machines safely and efficiently.
• Keep work moving to meet daily production expectations and operational needs.
• Process guest laundry by tagging, washing, drying, pressing, and packaging items as required.
• Move completed linens to the appropriate storage locations or floors as instructed.
• Follow departmental standards, policies, and procedures at all times.

Workplace cleanliness and safety

• Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free laundry area.
• Work in compliance with hygiene, health, and safety rules, including safe chemical handling and equipment use.
• Report equipment faults, maintenance issues, and safety concerns promptly to the Laundry Supervisor or Manager.
• Take part in safety instruction, including emergency response and chemical-handling procedures.
• Use personal protective equipment appropriately.

Equipment and inventory support

• Operate laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, ironers, and folding equipment safely and correctly.
• Carry out basic daily cleaning and upkeep of equipment.
• Monitor linen levels and report shortages or unusual damage.
• Assist with linen counts and inventory checks when needed.

Additional requirements and working conditions

Applicants should have a post-secondary degree or diploma. Prior experience in laundry or housekeeping is considered an advantage. The role requires the ability to learn laundry machinery quickly, or already know how to use it, along with a solid understanding of fabric care and stain treatment.

Successful candidates must be able to follow directions, work independently, maintain quality standards, and communicate and collaborate effectively with others. The job involves standing for long periods, lifting and moving heavy loads, and working in a warm, fast-paced environment.

Physical demands include remaining on your feet for the full shift, repeated lifting of laundry in and out of machines, carrying loads up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling up to 100 lbs. The work may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals while wearing PPE.

Flexible scheduling is required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
