Role overview

Chi-Chack LLC is looking to build a roster of candidates for future interpreter assignments across multiple languages. These assignments may support different government agencies, and qualified professionals may be contacted to pursue specific opportunities as they arise. The role is classified as an independent contractor position and can be carried out remotely. At this time, remote work is not available for candidates located outside the United States.

What you will do

• Deliver simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretation between English and one or more target languages.
• Translate spoken messages accurately while preserving meaning, tone, intent, and cultural context.
• Interpret live conversations in real time so all participants can understand each other clearly.
• Recognize cultural nuance, body language, and surrounding context to improve communication quality.
• Protect confidentiality and follow professional ethics on every assignment.
• Offer cultural context and guidance when needed to support effective communication.

Required qualifications

• Strong command of English plus at least one additional language, with proven speaking and listening ability.
• Ability to verify language skill through an industry-standard assessment.
• At least 3 years of experience working as an oral interpreter.
• Comfort using over-the-phone interpretation platforms.
• Ability to clear a background check or obtain a security clearance when an assignment requires it.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.

Preferred qualifications

• Background in demanding settings such as legal, medical, or government environments.
• Relevant interpretation credentials, such as a Certified Court Interpreter certification.
• Academic background in linguistics, interpretation, or a related discipline.
• Active security clearance.

Working conditions

• May require extended working hours and travel depending on assignment needs.
