Role overview
The National Maternity Hospital is seeking a Household Assistant to support the upkeep of clinical, public, patient, and staff spaces. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment while following hospital standards and infection control requirements.
Key duties
- Keep all allocated areas spotless and orderly, including infection-control cleaning and the safe removal of blood and bodily fluid contamination.
- Present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times and wear the hospital-provided uniform.
- Clean, restock, and prepare public, patient, and staff areas as needed.
- Support colleagues, patients, and visitors who need additional assistance.
- Use hospital equipment and property carefully and maintain it appropriately.
- Help support the department’s and hospital’s financial objectives through efficient working practices.
- Work according to scheduled shifts and break times.
- Select and use cleaning chemicals correctly on all surfaces, following the hospital’s health and safety rules.
- Promptly inform the supervisor on duty about faults, incidents, or damaged items.
- Safeguard any keys issued to you and return them responsibly.
- Submit any found property to the supervisor on duty.
- Follow all policies and procedures described in the hospital manual.
- Attend and complete all mandatory training.
- Observe all health and safety requirements, including smoking-related rules.
- Report any accidents that occur while carrying out household duties.
