Описание работы
Company Overview
Midlands Conservation and Sustainability Initiative (MCSI) is a formally registered environmental conservation organisation (PVO 115/26) that works to help communities in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province safeguard and manage natural resources in a sustainable way. Its work is driven by applied research, advocacy, capacity-building, and inclusive engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. The organisation is centred on practical, community-led approaches that build stronger environmental stewardship and resilience, and it offers a purpose-driven environment focused on collaboration and long-term local impact.
Role Summary
The Fundraising Officer will be responsible for creating and putting into action resource mobilisation plans, spotting potential donors and partners, and nurturing relationships with charities and philanthropic organisations. The position also involves drafting grant applications and concept notes, preparing fundraising communication and reports, and helping organise events and campaigns aimed at securing both financial support and donations in kind. The role further requires managing donor records, monitoring fundraising results, ensuring donor compliance, and working closely with programme teams so that fundraising priorities match organisational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Source funding leads from local and international donors, foundations, corporate partners, and grant-making bodies.
- Draft, develop, and submit strong grant proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest.
- Assist the Director in developing and sustaining relationships with donors, development partners, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic organisations.
- Help plan and run fundraising drives, events, and online giving efforts.
- Keep an updated database of funding opportunities and track application and grant deadlines.
- Work with programme teams to shape project ideas and prepare budgets.
- Compile fundraising updates and track progress against resource mobilisation goals.
- Represent the organisation at networking forums and stakeholder meetings when required.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or another related discipline is required. Previous exposure to fundraising, grant writing, business development, resource mobilisation, or partnership development will be considered an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate strong proposal writing, communication, and presentation abilities, together with solid networking, negotiation, and relationship management skills. The role also calls for someone who can work independently, handle deadlines well, balance multiple priorities, and use Microsoft Office and online collaboration platforms confidently. A genuine interest in environmental conservation and MCSI’s mission is important.
Important Information
This opportunity is linked to MCSI’s volunteer programme. The organisation notes that volunteership may transition into a full-time paid position once enough funding has been secured. Interested applicants are expected to submit an updated CV and a cover letter stating their interest by email to recruitment@mcsi.org.zw no later than Monday 27 July 2026.
