Role overview
A leading Irish accountancy and advisory firm is looking for a Financial Controller to join its multi-location finance team in County Cork. The business works with ambitious commercial organisations that expect a high level of client service and specialist expertise.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, this position will oversee the finance team and the day-to-day finance function. The successful candidate will help shape and develop the finance operation, advise stakeholders on strategic finance matters, and support the integration of future acquisitions.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts accurately and on time.
- Take full ownership of core finance activities, including cash flow, receivables, payables, fixed assets, and tax-related work.
- Review existing finance processes, systems, and controls regularly to improve output, productivity, and the quality of reporting.
- Lead, manage, and develop the finance team.
- Ensure statutory filings are completed correctly and within required deadlines.
- Oversee the annual audit process and the preparation of audited statutory accounts.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Partner with senior management on projects such as onboarding new entities, supporting due diligence, and working with banking partners.
- Supervise the internal monthly payroll process.
- Provide financial analysis to support business units and decision-making.
- Build a productive working relationship with MKS and use their expertise to strengthen the business and finance function.
Candidate profile
- Qualified accountant with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience.
- Background in a professional services or partner-led setting such as a law firm or accountancy practice.
- Strong team orientation with excellent communication and influencing ability.
- Self-driven, proactive, and genuinely interested in working in a professional, fast-moving environment.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality financial information.
- Strong technical, IT, and interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed organisation and multitasking capability.
- Ability to lead and grow a professional finance team effectively.
Salary and benefits
