Field Technician III

Role overview

This position is for a Field Technician III based in Mannheim, Germany, supporting bolt product equipment for nuclear power plant outage work around the world. The role focuses on maintaining, assembling, troubleshooting, and preparing standard and backup tools used for baffle and clevis bolt equipment. You will work closely with shift and jump leads, tool operators, and platform workers, and also help maintain bolt replacement systems and other specialist field service equipment.

In this on-site role, you will act as the tool expert during field execution, making sure the correct tools are serviced, assembled, and ready before they are handed over to the platform worker for installation and use on the machine. The position reports to the Manager, NDE & Special Products, and is located in Mannheim.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and ongoing maintenance for bolt replacement systems, tools, and other specialist field service equipment.
• Support the commissioning and testing of new parts used in bolt replacement and related field equipment.
• Train new team members and subcontractors on the tools used with bolt replacement systems.
• Perform on-site operation of bolt replacement equipment and other company products at nuclear power plants worldwide.
• Manufacture or modify electrical and mechanical components based on technical drawings.
• Assemble equipment and tooling as required for deployment.
• Work across departments and with international teams in multiple countries.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant should bring hands-on experience with complex field service equipment, strong mechanical or electrotechnical ability, and the capability to understand technical documents such as drawings, wiring diagrams, and procedures. Familiarity with basic computer use, software installation, and networking is also needed. The role requires regular international travel and work in outage environments.

Experience and language requirements

• At least 1 year of experience operating and/or maintaining bolt replacement equipment or similar complex field service machinery.
• At least 2 worldwide assignments as a platform worker during a bolt replacement job or bolt D&D job involving baffle, barrel, or clevis work.
• At least 1 worldwide assignment as a tool specialist during a bolt replacement job involving baffle or clevis work.
• English proficiency at minimum A2 level, with B1 or above preferred.
• Local language ability for Germany, Spain, Belgium, or English at native level or equivalent C1/C2 standard.
